Year 2012 declared as Year of Clusters in Europe, LEDIB programme begins with the workshop for the representatives of local and national authorities and representatives of educational and research institutions which are essential for cluster development - “DRIVING CLUSTER EXCELLENCE”, on Monday, January 30, 2012, starting at 10:30 AM at “The Regent Club” in Niš.

The fact that in Serbia there are more than 40 clusters, indicate the need for strategic planning and the importance of cluster development in Serbia. The mission of LEDIB programme in Nišava district, contributed that the city of Niš become mapped as the Cluster City of Serbia.

In order to support sustainable development of SMEs and more effective coordination of Serbia with the European countries, based on many years of good results at the regional level, LEDIB programme in partnership with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce - Council for the clusters, the National Agency for Regional Development, the Office for European Integration, the City of Nis, University of Nis, Regional Chamber of Commerce of Nis, the media partners and CLUSTER HOUSE, supports cluster development activities at regional and national level.

The purpose of the workshop is to present participants the importance of clusters for economic development and encouraging the development of clusters through the examples of good practices, and indicate the role of government / public sector and educational and research institutions to strengthen local competitiveness through clusters.

Team of experts from consulting company Lamont Street Advisors from Copenhagen will share the significant experience of cluster development in many European countries, with special emphasis on the methodology of cluster development in Denmark.
