Days of Oblacina Sour Cherry event was held at Municipality of Merosina on June 16, 2012. The event started by gathering of Sour Cherry of Oblacina Association members, guests and cooperators at the premises of Association in Merosina. Apostol Janos, PhD, of the Research Institute for Fruitgrowing and Ornamentals from Budapest was their guest. He is the creator of 15 Hungarian sorts of sour cherry. Together with Association members, the participants of this event visited sour cherry orchard owned by one of cooperators, where the picking has started. Then the Agrozem’s sour cherry demo orchard was visited. All the guests were greeted by the Mayor of Merosina and Director of AC Sour Cherry at the Public Library. Dr Apostol Janos held a presentation on aims of sour cherry selection in Hungary and sorts of sour cherries he created, pointing out to the most important things in selection of Oblacina sour cherry. In the end of this ceremony, there was a cocktail party with degustation of various products made of sour cherry, followed by an official lunch for all the guests.
